Decoupaged Easter Eggs

We have been having the best weather down here in Virginia lately. This week we’re getting a touch of spring with temperatures near 70!

I’m so glad because I’m over the freezing cold long winter days. Not to mention the ice storms we’ve had this year. Yuck!

So to get more in the spirit of Spring, I’ve been working on spring and Easter crafts.

And today I’m going to show you how I made these cute decoupaged Easter eggs out of plastic eggs from Dollar Tree!

How to turn plastic eggs into decoupaged Easter egs

What you need:

• Plastic eggs (Mine came from Dollar Tree. There were 18 in a pack for $1. Or you can get 20 in a pack from Walmart for $1.98.
• Mod Podge
• Paintbrush
• Decorative napkin

What you do:

Step 1

I chose to use all yellow plastic eggs for this project. You can choose any color you want. To me, yellow is such a happy spring color.

The decorative napkins usually have layers to them. Tear the layers apart so that you only have the top layer to work with.

Rip the top layer of the napkin into small pieces. You want them small enough to fit onto the plastic eggs.

Step 2

Use the paintbrush to add a layer of Mod Podge to the plastic egg. (I usually use a sponge brush to do this, but I didn’t have any on hand this time.)

Step 3

Now that you have Mod Podge on the plastic egg, start adding the napkin strips.

They don’t have to be in any order, just put them on the plastic egg anyway that makes sense to you.

After you’ve covered the plastic egg with the napkin strips, set it aside and let it dry completely.

Step 4

Once the Mod Podge-covered plastic egg is completely dry, add another layer of Mod Podge to the entire egg.

Set it aside and allow it to completely dry.

Now repeat the steps above to make as many decoupaged Easter eggs as you want!

Then when they’re all dry, decorate with them.

I made three decoupaged Easter eggs and placed them on top of the candle holder I made last year. I added a handful of moss (also from Dollar Tree) and just laid the eggs on top.

The decoupaged eggs look so cute paired with my no-sew fabric bunny and paper bag carrots!
