Snowman Picture Frame – Dollar Tree DIY

Create a cute snowman picture frame for only $2!

Christmas is right around the corner, which means this is my last Christmas DIY for this year. Can you believe it?

The weather is perfect for this snowman picture frame right now. It’s sunny and very cold today, but we’re in a winter storm warning for tomorrow. Unfortunately, our area is forecast to get mostly ice, then rain. What a mess!

Now on to today’s Christmas DIY! Grab a mug of hot chocolate and your supplies and let’s get to work!

How to make a Dollar Tree snowman picture frame

What you need:

  • Picture frame
  • Gift bag with a snowman (or any photo you want to use)
  • Embellishments (I used a wooden snowflake and jute string)

What you do:

First, remove the back from the picture frame. Carefully remove the glass and lay it on top of the photo on the gift bag that you want to use. (Mine is a snowman.) Once you get the picture lined up the way you want it, trace around the glass with a pencil.

Cut the picture out and put it in the picture frame. Put the back of the frame back on.

You can leave the snowman picture frame as is or you can add some cute little embellishments.

I chose to add a little wooden snowflake to the corner of my snowman picture frame. When I was digging around in my craft box I found some little wooden pieces that I had stashed away. So, I thought the snowflake would be perfect for this project.

Just attach the wooden piece with a dab of hot glue and let the glue dry completely.

Next, I made a little bow out of jute string and attached it to the center of the snowflake.

That’s it! This is just a quick and easy last-minute Christmas DIY. And the best part is that it only cost $2! Well, less, actually because I got 2 bags for the price of one, making them $.50 each.

This will be my last post until after Christmas. I’m taking a much-needed break to catch up on a lot of things that I’ve gotten behind on. Plus I will be planning posts and setting goals for next year for my blog. I will also be working on my online shop as well as planning homeschool lessons for after Christmas. And after all that I’m going to need a vacation!

I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed Christmas!

  • It's a great idea...you come up with the best projects! Sometimes I have bags to recycle that have cute little embellishments. I never thought to put them in a frame. I'm going to have to sort through my bag box and see what I have for Valentine's Day.

    • Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked it. I hope you get to make one for Valentine's Day. What a great idea!

  • Oh my goodness, Michelle! I never in a million years would have thought to turn gift bags from the Dollar Tree into this adorable Christmas/winter decoration. Dollar Tree bags are the best. I went this year and got a ton of them for next to nothing. Those same bags are $6-8 from other stores...it's crazy! I also found these little cardboard mailboxes from Dollar Tree this year. Did you see those?? I used those instead of bags and stuffed them full of little candies and a couple small items for the gifts. :) I still can't believe they were only $1!

Your embellishments are the perfect touch to an already adorable DIY. You always know exactly what to do!

By the way, congratulations Michelle on such a beautiful and successful blog. (in response to your blog planning sentence at the beginning of this post) I am so happy for you and proud of all you've achieved. It's truly awesome to watch your gifts unfold before our very eyes. You are a talented woman and the best is yet to come. Thank you for sharing your gift with all of us. ?

    • I didn't see the little cardboard mailboxes at our Dollar Tree this year. I'm sure people bought them up before I got there. I'm always too late! haha! I bet your little boxes were so cute filled with candies and gifts. What a great idea!

Aww...thank you so much for your kind words. You have no idea how much they mean to me!! HUGS!
