Last week I kicked off my Christmas DIYs with a primitive wreath ornament, which was so easy and fun to make.
Today I have another easy Christmas ornament for you to try – wood bead snowmen. I think these little wooden snowmen ornaments are just adorable!
Not only are they easy, they’re quick to make, too.
And wood bead snowmen ornaments are perfect crafts for kids, too!
Let me show you how easy these are to put together.
Warning: They are addicting!
If you don’t want to make these yourself, you can purchase them in my shop here.

What you need:
To make wood bead snowman ornaments, you only need a few items:
- Wood beads – I used 3 – 1″ size which I found on Amazon here
- Jute cord
- Fabric scraps
- Orange and black permanent markers (or craft paint)
What you do:
Step 1
First, cut a piece of jute cord to be about 10″ long, or longer if you want a bigger loop for hanging.
Tie a loop at one end to hang the snowman when you’re done.
Wrap the other end of the jute cord with Scotch tape. This makes it easier to get the jute through the holes in the beads.
Step 2
Next, add 3 beads to the jute cord for the snowman head and body.
Then tie a knot under the beads so they don’t fall off.
Step 3
Next, use permanent markers to draw a face on the top bead. Use black for the eyes and mouth then draw an orange triangle for the nose.
The markers did run on the wood on some of mine, but not a lot. If you’d rather use craft paint, that works, too.
Step 4
Finally, cut fabric strips just long enough to tie around the jute cord between the top and middle beads for a scarf.
That’s it!
Wood bead snowmen ornaments are so easy to make and are so addicting!
