Seashell Candle (Dollar Tree DIY)

This Dollar Tree DIY is so simple and all you need is 3 things! Check out this seashell candle DIY that goes great with any beach-themed summer decor.

We’re in the middle of a heatwave and for the past three days, we’ve had a heat advisory. The “feels like” temps here in the south have been anywhere from 100-105 degrees. Yuck!

I’m staying inside as much as possible. I’m not a fan of the heat and humidity.

One good thing about the heat keeping me indoors is that I have extra time to make stuff!

And today I have another Dollar Tree DIY for you. This simple seashell candle DIY is so easy to put together. All you need is a few supplies from Dollar Tree and about 5 minutes.

What you need:

  • LED Pillar Candle
  • Jute twine
  • 2 Seashells
  • Hot glue

What you do:

I picked up this LED candle from Dollar Tree a while back. I love using these in crafts, so I usually grab a few when I’m in the store.

This seashell candle DIY is so easy that I don’t even need to write instructions! All you do is wrap a piece of jute twine around the candle and cut it so that one end is a tad longer than the other.

Hot glue the twine to the LED candle, then hot glue the seashells to each end of the twine.

That’s it! It’s seriously so simple and it only takes about 5 minutes to put together.

And it’s so pretty when lit, too.

To use my seashell candle DIY in my summer decor, I set it on a candle stand that I made for fall. (You can see that here.) I added a few white rocks that also came from Dollar Tree around the candle.

I love how it turned out and how easy it was to put together. Since I already had everything on hand, it didn’t cost me a thing to make! However, even if you have to buy the supplies it only costs $3 to put together. And if you make the candle holder, that’s only another $3 minus the cost of spray paint.

A beautiful and frugal DIY for only $6! And it still looks like it came from a high end store.

Will you be making your own seashell candle out of Dollar Tree supplies? I’d love to see it if you do! Tag me on Instagram (@blessings_by_me_blog).

  • I feel your pain on the heat & humidity, my friend. (sigh) It has really been brutal, hasn't it? What's crazy is how mild it had been, even to the beginning of July. Then, BAM!! The heat right now is quite literally oppressive. It feels hard to breathe. Stay safe. These are the times in life when we really become grateful for the 'simple' luxuries like A/C, right?

I absolutely love your entire beach-theme decor. The white rocks are a really nice touch. I had no idea you could get those from Dollar Tree! I went looking for those one day several months back for a gift I was giving. When I finally found them, they were over $20! ? Don't I feel crazy now, lol!

So glad you're staying in to create. You're brilliant at it, Michelle. Never ever forget that!

Sending my biggest bear hugs and loads of love your way. ?

    • I know! And we still have to get through the August heat, too. Ugh! I'm so thankful for AC. I remember when I was little and staying with my grandma. She didn't have AC, just an old box fan. We did a lot of sitting outside under the shade tree those days. :) I miss it, though.

Oh wow! I can't believe the price of the rocks! Dollar Tree usually has them near the floral section. So if you need them again... lol!

Thank you so much!! I hope you stay safe and cool! Hugs and love!!

  • This is so lovely. And looking at it with the previous candlestick DIY on the table, just makes it more lovely.

  • A beautiful and safe candle. A great craft idea for kids too, Thanks for sharing, Michelle.

  • The LED candle looks really realistic, I thought it was a real candle at first! But it's a sensible option because it's much safer. It looks so pretty with the seashells on! xx

    • Thank you! I love using the LED candles because I can decorate them without worrying about catching the house on fire. :D

  • Super creative!!! Love the clean, fresh look of this!❤️ not sure how you think of this stuff?!
