Best Things to Buy in June

With June comes summer and with summer comes some great discounts! Check out this extensive list on the best things to buy in June to help you save money all year!

Summer is approaching us in the US this month and with summer comes all kinds of fun outdoors activities and festivals.

Hopefully with the social distancing going on these activities are still able to happen.

Even if you can’t get out and enjoy the long, lazy summer months in the community, you can still enjoy picnics and bonfires right in your own backyard!

Along with the start of summer is some great discounts and sales. Read on to find the best things to buy in June!

Spring Apparel: A lot of stores were forced to close their doors in the spring due to the pandemic. Now that most are reopening, they are desperate to clear their shelves and get the end of season apparel out. Shop department stores like Macy’s and specialty retailers like Gap for the best deals and deepest discounts. Right now everything is on sale at Old Navy with a lot of items up to 50% off. Plus you can sign up for their email and get an extra 20% your next purchase.

Workout Gear: It’s time to get into shape so we can fit into last year’s swimsuits! To make that happen without spending a lot of money, retailers are offering deep discounts on workout gear this month. Look for clothes, shoes, and accessories. Dick’s Sporting Goods is having a sale on shoes as well as a huge clearance event. Target has great deals on women’s activewear starting at just $10!

Lingerie: Victoria’s Secret holds its semi-annual sale in June. This sale only happens twice a month and only lasts about 2 weeks. Typically you can find bras and panties at huge discounts with clothing marked down 20-30%.

Doughnuts: Today (June 5th) is National Doughnut Day so be on the lookout for free glazed doughnuts from Dunkin’, Krispy Kreme, and Duck Donuts!

Dinner for Dad: There aren’t a lot of sales for Father’s Day gifts, however some restaurant chains are advertising buy-one-get-free entrees, free items, and specials. Check your local restaurants to get an idea of when these deals are. Last year Olive Garden offered a $10 bonus gift card if you purchased a $50 gift card, so they may offer that again this year. (These deals should be good on takeout, too if you’re local restaurant’s dining room isn’t open.)

Foods in season: In season fruits to look for this month include: melons, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, peaches, apricots, and nectarines. Vegetables to look for include: sweet corn, green beans, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, and summer squash.

Beauty products: Just like with clothes, beauty products have to clear the shelves to make room for new products. Ulta is having a great sale right now on makeup, hair products, and even sunscreen. Be sure to check Sephora for some great deals, too. (And if you want to know anything and everything about beauty products, just ask Erica from weareglamerus.com! I love her monthly beauty anti-wishlists! She saves me a lot of money when it comes to what to buy in makeup.)

Dishes: The start of summer also means the start of wedding season. Because of this, you can score some great deals on dishware and cookware even if you’re just buying it for yourself! Keep an eye out at Kohl’s for some amazing discounts on dish sets!

While there may not be a ton of sales going on at many different locations this month, you can definitely find a great bargain out there. Typically I’d be talking about booking vacations this month, but those are still up in the air right now.

What’s on your shopping list this month? Do you have any wedding gifts to buy for wedding season? Which one of these best things to buy in June do you have your eye on?

  • Thanks for this list! I will keep an eye out for some of these. Hmmm, a donut sounds great right now. Lol. ?

    • You're welcome! I'm glad you found it helpful. :) I was thinking the same thing about the donut! :D

  • Thanks for the great list and reminders, Michelle! I totally forgot it was donut day today! Whew Hoo!

  • Another awesome savings list, Michelle! Thank you! I love when you round up all the ways we can save. It helps a lot.

I wasn't even thinking about how there would be deep discounts on clothing right now because of how many stores got hurt by Covid-19. Hopefully the rush in sales will help businesses get back on their good side of finances.

Great idea about Dinner for Dads. Gift cards (especially food!) are a welcomed gift since they can enjoy what they want.

Hope your June is extra blessed and full of dreams fulfilled my friend! ♥

    • Thank you! I'm happy to help! :)
Most of our stores are opening back up with restrictions so I hope the sales help them. A few local small businesses have had to shut down altogether and I think that's sad. The owner of our favorite donut place had to sell because she couldn't afford to keep her place open. They're such a good family so I hate that she had to do that.
I hope you have a wonderful June, too! Let this month be a fresh start! :D

      • This is what I am seeing happen in northern New Mexico too. It is so sad to see family businesses have to close their doors.

  • Thank you so much for the sweet shout-out Michelle! Actually I put a pause on my monthly anti-wishlists since COVID started since a lot of beauty launches were pushed. I hope to start them up again either this month or next! Darn I missed Donut Day ?.

  • I missed the donut day... ?
Thanks for this list! Will check out some discounts on line❤️
