Clean Your Bedroom in Just 15 Minutes
Don’t let your bedroom become a storage room. Learn how to clean your bedroom in just 15 minutes with these quick tips.
Your bedroom is supposed to be a sanctuary, a place where we can relax and let the chaos of the day wear away.
Your bedroom cannot be a very relaxing place if it’s filled with items from other rooms in the house.
We are all pretty busy, therefore we may not have a lot of time to commit to cleaning our bedrooms. After all, we’re the only one who sees them, right?
But don’t we all deserve some relaxation and peace at the end of the day?
And how can we have that relaxation and peace in a cluttered space?
Don’t let your bedroom become a storage room. In this post, you’ll learn how to keep your bedroom a relaxing space and a room you want to return to. Just follow these easy tips on how to clean your bedroom in just 15 minutes.
How to Clean Your Bedroom in Just 15 Minutes
Gather your supplies
First, gather your supplies. Gathering the supplies first thing will keep you from getting distracted while you clean your bedroom. Here’s what you need:
- A box or basket to put clutter in
- A trash bag for trash
- A vacuum cleaner or broom
- A cloth for dusting
- A hamper
Pick up dirty clothes
Right now all you need to be concerned with is gathering all the dirty clothes around the room and placing them in the hamper. Don’t worry about sorting them right now; that can be done at laundry time.
Gather clean clothes
Pick up any clean clothing that may be lying around the room on chairs or dressers. Fold them and put them away or hang them up in your closet. If there’s a significant amount of clothing, just fold them and place them on your bed after you make it. Remind yourself to put them away before bedtime.
Pick up the trash
Focus on obvious trash here. This isn’t the time to sort through old magazines or closets and drawers. Save those items for when you have more time to do a major decluttering.

Make the bed
I know sometimes we think that there’s no point in making the bed because we’re just going to get back in it in just a few hours anyway. Making the bed leaves a room looking less cluttered and more inviting. It helps keep things clean and instantly polishes a room. Doesn’t it feel great to cross something off your to-do list as soon as you wake up?

Gather misplaced items
Pick up all the items that belong in other rooms and put them in your box or basket. Don’t worry about sorting through them right now and taking them to their proper places. If you’re like me you’ll get distracted and start cleaning the other rooms. Stay focused on the bedroom for now.
I love this basket for carrying clutter items! It makes it so much easier to carry items from the room. And it’s super cute, too!
Straighten up surfaces
You may have items sitting around your room that belong in the bedroom but are out of place. Go ahead and straighten them now. If there are a lot of items scattered all over the room, place them in a basket and plan to put them in their proper place later. While you’re moving things around, dust off the surfaces.
Vacuum or Sweep
This is not the time to be moving furniture to sweep and/or vacuum. Give the room a quick sweep to remove surface dirt quickly. Vacuum the carpet or area rugs if you have any.
Don’t forget about the items you placed in your basket. If you have a few extra minutes put those items away now so that they do not become a huge pile of clutter. Take a minute to put the extra clothes away, too if you had any that you placed on your bed.
Put away supplies
After putting away your cleaning supplies take time to reflect on how clean your bedroom is and the feeling of accomplishment you have at the moment.
If you take the time to clean your bedroom like this often, you’ll be able to see the floor and find your bed. Your bedroom will become and stay your sanctuary.
Now you know how to clean your bedroom in just 15 minutes! Cleaning your bedroom right away will make it easier to keep clean and decluttered.

My pleasure!
Ah ah ah ….Michelle…you read my mind! This post so…resonates with me as that’s another thing that’s been keeping me busy! Hoover, dust, have a different basket for different dirty laundry types, have a box for spare clothes or maybe winter or summer clothes, stack up the boxes neatly so it doesn’t take much space (build vertically), make the most of the space…ah ah …so funny!
I guess I wrote this at just the perfect time for you, then! 😀 It’s the perfect time to clean and organize and go through closets. Stacking the boxes is a great idea to save space!
I love to have my bedroom clean! Great tips! Thank you very much ?
Me, too! It makes me feel so much more relaxed and calm. 😀
I always make my bed (well most of the time haha) because it just makes me feel better! Thank you for the tips!
Me, too! When the bed is a mess I feel like my whole room is a mess, even if the rest of it is clean. haha! Thank you!!
Wonderful tips! It’s a great time to do a lot of cleaning during this self isolate time.
Thank you! Yes, I agree. We have plenty of time to get these things done now. 🙂
I love a clean house, especially the master bed and bath. Thank you for the helpful hints Michelle!
Me, too! I feel so much better when it’s clean and not cluttered. Thank you!
I used to be a pro at this but now I have to admit I have gotten a bit lazy. Gathering misplaced items and putting them away is where I struggle. Lol Great reminders for sure.
I’ve been there so I completely understand. I have to keep myself motivated because I know how stressed I feel when there’s clutter. Thank you so much for reading!
I am a Chinese junior high student blogger and YouTuber. I had already cleaned and reformed my bedroom and made a clean and comfortable study environment before this article generates. Unfortunately, I am so busy with my study tasks right now so I can’t do these actions listed in this article immediately.
Thanks for your useful tips in order to make my bedroom cleaner that it used to! If you had posted these tips before, I could have cleaned my bedroom earlier.
I completely understand. I hope you’re doing well! You’re a really hard worker and I hope that is paying off for you. Thank you so much for reading!
You are welcome!
Helpful hints! Thank you! Stay safe and prayers sent your way!
Thank you so much! Thank you for the much needed prayers, too. I hope you’re doing well!
Doing well, thank you! ???
This is inspirational to me because yes…I have been thinking that I need to focus more on our bedroom. It does have a tendency to become a storage space! I have donation items in there in boxes right now…all the second hand stores are closed so the items need to stay in my room for the time being. But at least having them put away neatly in boxes and the other surfaces cleaned, helps a lot!
I’m so glad you found it helpful. I have the same problem with donation items. I recently went through my daughter’s room and got a bunch of old stuff out. Then I had to find somewhere else to put them since everything is closed! 😀
Yes exactly…that is one of the problems right now! ?
Michelle, Love the tips on how to clean the bedroom. We all love to get our home cleaned quickly. Great tips my friend.
Thank you so much! The quicker I can clean the better. 😀
Have you seen the lovely bedrooms on Pinterest where people dress their beds with a billion cushions, books and a tea tray. Looks good, but how would you get into bed haha?
Haha! Right? I love the way they look, but where would I put all those pillows so I could sleep? 😀
Did mine yesterday. Slowly catching up.
That’s good! I’m sure it’s not as easy with your wrist being sore.
I love baskets in general. And you’re right, the one you have in the post is super cute. I might be seeing that in my future! Saving this post. Thanks!
Me, too! I had to make myself stop buying baskets every time I went to a thrift store. LOL! Thank you!! 🙂
I know what you mean! I try to think of something I can use it before buying. That helps, but it is still painful when I have to walk away! ?
Great post
Thank you so much!
Your welcome x seraja
This is a great tutorial, thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much!
So many fabulous tips, Michelle, thank you! I love how you have a basket for clutter. I’m always amazed at how things so easily wind up in the bedroom that are not supposed to be there at all. These are great! Hugs, CoCo
Thank you so much! I know what you mean. If someone comes over the first thing I do is hide random mess in the bedroom. Baskets are so helpful for keeping the clutter away.
Awesome tips! My nerves get a little frazzled living with clutter or things out of order. 🙂
Thank you! I am the same way. I get so overwhelmed with clutter around.
Great and practical tips. I will be using on Wednesday my next day off to create that sanctuary. Thank you.
Thank you so much! I’m glad you found it helpful!
Always, everything so pristine. I love it.
This is such a practical spring cleaning tip. I always sleep much better when my bedroom is tidy!
Thank you! I do, too. When it’s cluttered I feel overwhelmed and can’t relax.
Great advise, it really makes you feel so much better when throughout the day you walk into your bedroom and it’s clean and the bed is made. For a long time I didn’t make my bed LOL figuring I’m only getting back into it, but now I make the bed as soon as I get up and I love it, it also helps me to keep the rest of my room clean. Thank you great post.
Thank you! My granny made her bed as soon as she got up and I loved how clean and tidy her room always looked. Now if I don’t make my bed I feel like my whole room is a mess! ?
Making a bed is so crucial to a tidy bedroom. If I’m not leaving the house right away (and obviously most days now, I’m not!), I usually don’t make it until at least an hour after I’ve gotten up. I think there’s something to be said about letting your bed “air out” after a night of close contact with the sheets. Especially in the summer!
Letting your bed air out is a good idea. I never really thought about that, but it makes total sense!
Try it, I have no idea if it truly makes a difference, but in my head it totally does!
Excellent tips. I actually find our bedroom to be the easiest room in the house to keep clean. There’s not a ton in it to begin with, so a quick clean is easy to achieve. These tips also work for other rooms and I feel like if we stick to regular quick and easy routines like this then cleaning as a whole will be so much easier and enjoyable.
Thank you! I agree with sticking to a regular routine. It makes it so much easier to keep everything clean and it’s less stressful.
I was just starting to declutter my house when the virus hit and grandkids came to live with us. Guess I will have to wait because now I am decluttering toys! ????
Haha!! It’s never ending cleaning with kids around! Enjoy your time with them! ?

A good share/tips. ??
And an easy hack for those who are on the opposite end of “a place for a thing” and “keeping it tidy”. ?
Thank you so much! 🙂
You are welcome. ?
I need to follow this for cleaning my bedroom in 15 minutes. It always takes me longer. I need to get it done and be done.
I usually get distracted if I go into another room. I’ll start cleaning in there! So I have to try to stay focused on just one room at a time. I hope these tips help!
These are awesome tips, Michelle! I kind of chuckled when you mentioned gather things up but don’t try to put them away. You saying that you’re guilty of getting distracted, starting the cleaning on yet another room while putting something away — I completely relate! On high energy days, I’ve nearly cleaned a whole house in a few hours because I kept switching back and forth without meaning to! ? Most days though, I’m hardly that lucky to get even 1 room done. Brilliant suggestion about the basket!
The basket you linked to is really nice. I’d love to have one of those! I tried to click on the link but for some reason, it didn’t load anything. It looks to me like it’d be great in the garden/plant nursery too!
As always, you’ve knocked it out of the park my friend. Love these suggestions! I’ll be using quite a few of these tips in the next few days. Lots of love & hugs headed your way! ?
Thank you! I’ve done the same thing with cleaning the whole house on accident. That’s too funny!! I love those days because my house actually gets clean then. These days I’m letting it get further and further behind. I’m thankful for social distancing because at least nobody will be popping over unannounced while my house is a mess! ??
That basket would be great for the garden, too! I think I fixed the link. I’m not sure why it wasn’t loading.
I hope you’re doing well and getting everything planted! Hugs and Love!!
i loved every bit of your posts..
Great pieces!! very helpful
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! I’m glad you found this helpful.
you welcome

When my bedroom is cluttered I feel overwhelmed and stressed out. That’s great that you make sure your bed is made and clutter is picked up. I’m sure your bedroom is very nice and relaxing! 🙂 Thank you so much!

I will go check out your new blog now. Thank you for sharing the link. I hope you’re doing well!
I like your use of a basket to gather clutter to sort through later. You always offer very practical and efficient steps. God’s peace!
Thank you so much! A basket is so helpful for me so I don’t stress out about putting things away when I don’t have time.
I totally agree with this! I always find that a made bed makes my room feel less cluttered and I have to tidy my things away on my dressing table. The only thing I really struggle with clutter wise is stuff in PR boxes that I’m leaving out as a reminder I need to use or photograph, I need a better system for that stuff. 15 minutes is very impressive still though x
Sophie
That’s great! Clutter makes me feel overwhelmed and stressed out and I can’t relax. Maybe put the stuff you need to photograph in a separate room if you have the space?
Good to know that works too! I learn so much from you as well! Keep it up great post.
Thank you! I’m glad you found it helpful!
Great advice ?
Thank you!!
Hi Michelle,
Hope you are well. All ok here so far Michelle.
Quite a timely post, thanks.
This activity has been on my to do list since returning from The Gambia. Have cleaned my bedroom but not how I would like it to be (other things taking presidency at present).
I have scheduled to prioritise today after shopping trip.
I have saved the post to my household board on Pinterest. On revisiting I didn’t realise how many boards I had compiled. Plenty of time to revisit now!!! I PROMISE not to sabotage my efforts.
Have a good week end ??❤️
Thank you for reading! I’m glad you found it helpful!
All is well so far here, too. I’m glad to hear you are doing well, too.
I completely understand about Pinterest boards. I used to be addicted and now I need to take the time to clean it up! 🙂
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Happy organizing!
❤️??
Yes! There is nothing like falling into a clean, nicely made bed at the end of a long day. Being able to sigh, “ahhh…” when you are off to slumber land is way worth the act of making the bed up every morning. Keeping the bedroom uncluttered and tidy is a must for me too.
You described exactly how I feel. There’s nothing like a clean bedroom and a made bed when you’re so exhausted at night.
These are very helpful Michelle, thanks!
Thank you so much! I’m glad you found them helpful!
When my bed is made I always feel just a bit more prepared for the day!!
I agree! There’s just something about a made-up bed that makes the whole room feel clean.
Definitely!!!
