Today I’m going to show you how I made this beautiful Valentine’s love sign using a thrifted picture frame and supplies from Dollar Tree.
Thrift store shopping and church sales are so fun for me because I love seeing what other people get rid of. I like to challenge myself to see how I can makeover some of these thrifted finds. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, after all!
I found this really tall picture frame at a church sale a while back for $1. Of course, I had to bring it home! It was only a dollar after all.
The picture frame was just a plain wood frame, so I gave it a coat of white paint. (Sorry I didn’t take a picture of that part.) Then I decided to decorate it for Valentine’s day.
Let me show you how I made this really cute Valentine’s love sign with the thrifted picture frame and some Dollar Tree supplies.

What you need:
- Rectangular picture frame
- 6 Dollar Tree roses – just 1 bunch
- Jute twine
- Foil letters (I also got these from Dollar Tree in the school section)
- Tiny clothespins
- Hot glue gun
What you do:
Step 1
After painting your frame if you choose, lay the jute across the picture frame and hot glue ends to the back. I put my string close to the top so the letters can hang down from it and not touch the bottom.
Step 2
Pop the flowers off their stems and cut the little stems off that are sticking out.
Step 3
Using the hot glue, glue the leaves back onto two of the roses.
Step 4
Glue the roses onto the edges of the picture frame. I put one flower in the center of the edge and the other two along the sides.
Step 5
Cut off 4 more leaves from the leaf bunches and hot glue them to the back of the roses that are along the sides. This gives more greenery to your Valentine’s love sign.
Step 6
Hang the letters onto the jute twine using the tiny clothespins.
That’s it! You’re all done!
I love how this Valentine’s love sign turned out!
I think it looks so pretty above my couch in the living room.
I hope you loved this thrifted DIY! I’d love to know what you think!
