My daughter and I made paint swirl Christmas ornaments yesterday while the snow was slowly melting. We had a lot of fun making these. They are so simple to make, but do take a while because of the drying time.
I saw these clear ornaments while Black Friday shopping at a local craft store. There were only six ornaments in the package and after making these I wished I had bought more! They are slightly addicting.
That’s it! Now run out and buy some ornaments and paint!!
We played around with the amount of paint we poured into the ornaments and found that too much just covers the whole ornament and doesn’t leave much room for other colors. Too little paint poured in takes forever to drip around the sides. We started by adding a little paint and then a little more if needed before switching colors.
Have you ever made paint swirl ornaments before?

These are beautiful, and such a good idea. You'll have them for years to come. My mother has so many memories attached to her Christmas tree ornaments.
Thank you! My mom and I made these together, too. I love having a tree full of memories. ?
It's lovely taking them out every year. :)
totally cool! and how easy to make!
Thank you! They are super simple!
So pretty! What fun :D
Thank you so much!
When I was young, my Mother and I made something similar out of the plastic craft ball ornaments. Instead of paint, we filled them with Christmas potpouri and decorated the seams of the ball (they snapped together as two halves) with silver and red ribbons. The craft balls had holes in them so you could smell the potpouri.. and you know this was the 80's so potpouri was a popular craft element. Not even sure if you can still buy those plastic craft ball ornaments. It was fun though - and they looked pretty on the tree as well as hanging inside windows.
That sounds pretty! Yes, I remember the 80's crafts. ? Such great memories! Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful, I like it. ???
Thank you!
Wow! What lovely colors. Such a nice project to personalize your decorations. I love these ornaments.
Thank you so much!
What a cool idea! I love how your swirly ornaments turned out :) I need to keep this in mind for when my younger kids are a little bit older. Right now, we are relegated to using plastic ornaments :)
Thank you! I was a little worried about making them since last year my cat continued to jump into the tree. Luckily she hasn't bothered it this year. ?
